Elite or America’s Next Top Model?
I am a aspiring model, looking for some advice to where I should start my career as a model. I am 5′10 and I am not a stick thin as the models on the runway but I am slim. My dress size is about a 4 to 6, and I am African American. My question is, do you think I should try out for ANTM or Elite first? Would ANTM give me more exposure? Would it be harder for me to sign with Elite?

I think you should try out with Elite first, or any other fashion modeling agency to get yourself noticed before trying out for ANTM. Thats just my opinion.
ANTM is very subjective to Tyra. The real world of modeling may be different from a structured reality tv competition about modeling. I think it would be better to strike out on your own first. There are many models who make it without having to be critiqued and “trained” like they do on ANTM.
But if you feel uncomfortable with that idea, you could try to audition for ANTM so that you have some exposure before trying to make it on your own. It’s you decision.

Just look at the models who have won ANTM. How often do you see them in fashion shows in NY, Milan, Paris and London? When have you seen any of them in Vogue or W? When have you seen any of them in an ad for Gucci, Prada, Chanel or any other top designer?
You have a MUCH better chance to really make it in the industry if you can get signed by an agency like Elite. Also, Elite signs about 100 new models a year worldwide, ANTM only takes 12 so do the math which is harder. Also ANTM picks people because their personalities make good TV. Not all of the contestants even have real model potential, but they make a good reality TV character, which is different
The models on ANTM do not have any real credibility in the industry.
